It seemed to me that the OPs problem wasn’t so much with the actual work, but rather with the fact that the shifts lasted 4 hours longer than they were supposed to because the crew spent most of their time slacking off. I don’t know about anyone else, but it would sure bother me if I had to spend 4 extra hours at work every day for no reason.

Hmm. I understand that you didn’t like the job, but part of me is sad to see this posted on here since so many people work as janitors. It didn’t seem like anything out of the ordinary happened at this job, you just thought it was gross (?). Meanwhile many people are doing this work – that you found so distasteful for a week – to earn a living for years.
