I think we all know that excessive indoor tanning carries risks and I’m sure many of use have also known people who’ve gotten skin cancer from tanning (myself included), but this isnt the time or place to go on self righteous rants on the evils of tanning.

LOL M sounds mean. I don’t like tanning either, being blessed with naturally tan skin but even if I weren’t I wouldn’t go to a tanning salon. It just doesn’t make any sense to go there…maybe M tanned too much and it affected her brains! LOL

The experience you describe is more likely to occur in that sort of business where most of the peopel who work there are more interested in “free tanning” than in being professional. Sounds like you were too mature to work there despite your age; glad you found something better.

Hi! I’m the author of the tale of horror. It was a pretty insane job. As for Justine, I’m sorry to hear about your sister. I actually don’t tan as much as I used to. I was getting way out of hand with it, but I still enjoy tanning. Most everyone who tans is aware of the dangers, but that doesn’t make it any less tragic when someone is diagnosed with skin cancer- tanner or not. The fact of the matter is people will still do whatever they want i.e. tanning, smoking, drinking, regadless of the dangers. My story wasn’t meant to hurt you, it was just MVWJ.

I wish the best for your sister and your family.

I read on these site about drunk drivers all the time. My best friend is dead because of a drunk driver. The point Justine? There is a time and a place. Don’t upset yourself here.

Justine, I’m pretty sure anyone at this site has experienced death in their life and knows the internets isn’t going to conform to suit their sensitivities. I’m sorry for your tragedy, but lashing out at people for the fact that they have tanned or worked at a tanning salon isn’t going to change anything. The fact that tanning causes cancer is a well known one, but you can ‘help’ people know it in other ways than that. My Aunt, who also has skin cancer from obsessive tanning, has fought with it for years now. I hope your sister can do it as well, I’ll keep her in my thoughts.

Loved the story, I wouldn’t have been able to stand it for near as long!
